Official policy document
Cookie & Local Storage Policy
1. Current approach
DK-United, DK-Ezyro and the shared DK-Hub currently use only essential cookies, browser storage and related server-side technologies. These are used for security, session continuity, age and access preferences, restricted administration and reliable website operation.
No non-essential analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking technologies were identified in the reviewed production source. Non-essential technologies must remain disabled unless they are clearly disclosed and, where legally required, the visitor has made a valid choice before those technologies are activated.
2. What these technologies are
A cookie is a small value stored by a browser and sent with relevant requests to a website.
Local storage is information stored in the browser. It is not normally sent automatically with every request and usually remains until it is removed by the visitor or the application.
Session storage normally remains only for the active browser session. Server-side session identifiers and security records may be linked to browser sessions to support authentication, abuse prevention and reliable operation.
3. Current browser-storage register
| Name or key | Type | Purpose | Duration and controls |
|---|---|---|---|
| Module-specific session cookie, including DKU_PLAYER_UCP | Essential cookie | Login continuity, session security, CSRF protection and secure account or UCP operation. | Browser session. Secure on HTTPS, HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict. |
| dk_consent_gate_v25_clean3 | Essential cookie | Remembers the visitor's 18+ access acknowledgement and essential-storage notice. | Up to one year. Path=/, Secure and SameSite=Lax. Written and read by JavaScript and therefore not HttpOnly. |
| dk_consent_gate_v25_clean3 | Essential local storage | Local fallback for the same 18+ access acknowledgement. | Remains until removed, replaced or cleared by the visitor or application. |
| Restricted administrator session cookies, including DKU_BETA_ADMIN | Essential cookie | Authenticates and protects restricted ACP and Closed Beta administration. | Browser session. Secure on HTTPS, HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict. |
| dkSupportAlerts (restricted ACP only) | Functional local storage | Remembers whether an authenticated support administrator enabled browser alert prompts. | Remains until changed or cleared in the browser. |
The acknowledgement cookie used under dkezyro.com may be shared with approved subdomains of dkezyro.com so that a visitor does not have to repeat the same access acknowledgement unnecessarily.
Cookies cannot be shared directly between dkezyro.com and darkedenunited.com because they are separate registrable domains. Each domain may therefore maintain its own essential access preference.
4. Private administrator interface storage
Restricted ACP tools may store additional browser state for administrator-only security and interface functions. This may include DK Tablet PIN readiness, a local PIN hash, failed-attempt counters, temporary lock timing values and private interface or notification preferences.
These values are stored on the administrator's own device. They are not public visitor tracking identifiers and are not used for advertising or behavioural profiling.
5. Server-side technologies
The hosting environment uses self-hosted technologies such as Redis, Varnish and RAM-disk caching. These technologies support sessions and authentication, performance, rate limiting, abuse prevention, resilience, service recovery and private security logging.
These systems are not browser cookies and do not create client-side identifiers by themselves. They may temporarily process request, session, cache or security information in accordance with operational retention settings.
6. No current advertising or marketing cookies
At the date of this Policy, the reviewed production source showed no active Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager, advertising or behavioural marketing cookies, Meta or TikTok advertising pixels, cross-site tracking, newsletter-open tracking or non-essential analytics cookies.
If any non-essential technology is introduced later, it must remain blocked until the relevant information and consent controls are active.
7. Age and access acknowledgement
The entry gate is an age and access acknowledgement. It is not a request for consent to advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
Only essential storage is used for security, access preferences and reliable website operation.
A visitor may open the Legal Center, Privacy Notice and this Cookie & Local Storage Policy before continuing. These documents may be displayed in an on-page dialog so that the visitor can read them without leaving the access screen.
Selecting I am 18+ - Continue confirms the age and access requirement and allows the essential acknowledgement preference to be stored.
Essential storage is not optional where it is necessary to provide security, remember the requested access preference or operate login and account functions.
8. Future optional technologies
If optional analytics, marketing or other non-essential technologies are introduced, visitors will receive clear controls such as Accept all, Essential only and Preferences.
Optional technologies will not be activated before a valid choice is made. Rejecting optional technologies will not prevent access to the ordinary website, and refusing will not require more effort than accepting.
9. Browser controls
Visitors can remove or block cookies and browser storage through their browser settings. Blocking essential storage may cause the access acknowledgement to appear again and may prevent login, UCP, Closed Beta, administrator or security functions from operating correctly.
This is a technical consequence of blocking storage needed for those functions, not a requirement to accept advertising or tracking.
10. Changes to this Policy
This Policy will be reviewed whenever the projects introduce or materially change a cookie or local-storage key, an analytics or advertising service, an embedded third-party service, session or authentication technology, a browser-based administrator feature, or the retention period or purpose of existing storage.
Changes will be reflected in the version number and updated date.
